Dear Friend,
Thank you for considering a contribution to the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF). We are truly grateful for the generosity of our donors and the hard work and dedication of our grassroots fundraisers.
The success of the Lance Armstrong Foundation is very important to me. When I was diagnosed with testicular cancer, I was given less than a 40 percent chance of survival. With the support of my family and friends and a team of doctors and nurses, I won my fight and have been a cancer survivor for more than ten years now.
Overcoming cancer was more challenging than any race I will ever compete in, and I know this sentiment rings true for anyone affected with it, no matter what their role in life. As I was dealing with my diagnosis and treatment, I faced many uncertainties about my future. Would I ever ride again? Would I be able to have children? Would I ever be able to get health insurance? I realized that people need real support to deal with the physical, emotional and practical issues that come with a cancer diagnosis.
The LAF’s grassroots fundraising network is comprised of cancer survivors, people affected by cancer, volunteers and those that just want to make a difference. These individuals raise funds in their local communities to help the LAF provide the practical information and tools people living with cancer need to live life on their own terms.
Every day, 3,500 Americans will be diagnosed with cancer. The fight against cancer and the support we provide never ends, and thankfully the dedication of our grassroots fundraisers is tireless as well. The dedication this group of volunteers has to the LAF continues to amaze me.
Now one of our fundraisers has asked you for help. With the need so great, I ask you to consider supporting their fundraising goal as they help us realize ours. I am so proud to be part of this incredible group of people who provide hope, inspiration and support to people battling cancer and their loved ones. I invite you to share this experience with us.
Together, we can help inspire and empower people affected by cancer.
Sincerely,
Lance Armstrong
Founder
